Contents: Introduction The Prayers
Introduction:

This page contains the most comprehensive online collection of prayers given by the Master Peter Deunov (Beinsa Douno) to date, translated into English from the original Bulgarian. The selected prayers were given by the Master from as early as 1899/1900 (The Good Prayer), until the end of his Earthly life. They vary in length and concentration, and clearly present the deeply devotional Christian-esoteric nature of the Master Peter Deunov (Beinsa Douno)'s Teaching.

The prayers are methods given by the Master to all spiritual-students who wish to walk on the path to goodness and perfection, to upraise themselves in holiness and kindness, and to develop in themselves the fruits of the Spirit, namely, "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control" (Gal 5:22)

The translator is certainly aware of the existence of other English translations of several of the prayers presented here. Since it is true that there are many sublime medieval prayers and works by the early Christian Fathers which exist in only a single translation from the Latin, it may be seen by some as a luxury to translate something which has already been translated once into English. Yet why should sublime works not be translated more than once, or twice, or endless times in an attempt to obtain greater precision and faithfulness to the original? Wherever this is done in earnesty, it is a blessing and a gift for all who wish to read and be enlightened. It is hoped that these translations may be regarded as such humble attempts to reach this lofty ideal - and to convey accurately to English readers the Spirit present in the original prayers themselves.

As stated for the lectures, "the effort of translation is continually a work in progress", with new prayers and formulas from the Master Peter Deunov (Beinsa Douno) "being translated as time permits". The translations use the only authentic source which is proven to contain unmodified, non-edited versions of prayers by the Master Peter Deunov (Beinsa Douno), namely, the volumes "Izgrevat" published by Dr. Vergilii Kreustev.

The Prayers:

Currently, there are 26 prayers, more than half of which have never been published online before in English. New prayers and formulas will be added over time.

A number of the prayers have been packaged as YouTube videos by sedago - please see his channel and show your support for the wonderful effort.

Christophorus welcomes any suggested emendations, questions and contributions (see bottom of the page).

Coronation of the Virgin Mary

From "Hymns on Paradise" XIV, 9:

To the voices of the Celestial Beings,
to the melody of the spiritual,
to the Seraphs with their chants,
to the Cherubs with their wings:
to all their lovely music,
there is no comparison here below.
Their delight is in
   the praise which they render,
each one receiving
   rich sustenance through his lyre.
Make us worthy to take delight, along with them,
   in cries of "Hosanna".

- St. Ephrem the Syrian (c.306-373)
